Are you training for the Coquitlam Crunch Diversity Challenge ‘Stair Master‘ competition? Well, we’ve got some good news! There’s a new free app called Keep Pace that can assist you with your progress on either the west or east stairs of the Coquitlam Crunch.
Developed by Stephen Langhjelm, a personal trainer, and health and fitness enthusiast, the Keep Pace app – Version 1.0 is in its infancy but ready for use.
“Additions and improvements will be made on the app as we go along. Nonetheless, it’s available for public use,” said Stephen. “It’s a pretty cool app and it will only get better as we make it more social media friendly to build the Keep Pace community. It’s especially fun for the Crunch steps because it’s not too long of a distance to be pulling your phone out constantly.”
The motto is “Keep It Simple, Keep Pace,” said the developer, who’s adapted it for other trails as well like the Grouse Grind. “You simply choose between Grind Pace, Crunch Pace, or Race Pace, then choose the Casual or Beat Your Best Mode, hit start when you’re ready, and you’re off. As you go along, you press corresponding buttons within the app as you reach the actual markers in your selected event, this will display your estimated finish time, letting you know if you need to pick up the pace or keep going as you are.”
For the 437 or 457 Steps, buttons can be pressed every 50 steps to display the user’s estimated finish time.
In the near future, additional trails and modes may be added to the app for users to use. However, Stephen said his current priority is to focus on the user experience as he develops the app. “Making the app more social media friendly so users can share their finish times on various social media platforms is the next step. As we go forward, we’ll also be heavily focused on improving the overall functionality and capability of the app.”
The Keep Pace app is available for free on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
