City of Coquitlam Launches Crunch Survey – Possible New Trail Route

Organizers of the Coquitlam Crunch Challenge are delighted to see that the City of Coquitlam has issued a survey for residents in the area, and Coquitlam Crunch Trail users to provide feedback on the use and improvements of the popular hiking trail. The city landmark is also the location of the Coquitlam Crunch Challenge which runs each September – this year on September 9th!

Feedback will be received between May 9 – 28, and the City is also asking for feedback on a new trail route within the BC Hydro right-of-way from Dewdney Trunk Drive to Mariner Way.  Survey answers will be used to guide future improvements to the trail system.

Give Your Feedback on the Coquitlam Crunch Trail.  It will only take 5 – 7 minutes and responses will be kept anonymous.

The Coquitlam Crunch is a popular and somewhat challenging hiking trail within the BC Hydro corridor, running from Runnel Drive up to the top of Westwood Plateau at Eagle Mountain Drive. During the 2.2 kilometre hike, the trail gains 242 metres in elevation – approximately 81 storeys and includes a staired section with over 400 timber stairs.

The Crunch is part of the City of Coquitlam’s trail system, which includes more than 100 kilometres of multi-surface trails and includes a portion of the Trans Canada Trail.
