Yellow Dog and Mariner Sponsor Crunch Challenge Beer Garden

We’re pleased to announce and are very grateful for the support of Yellow Dog Brewing and  Mariner Brewing for this year’s Coquitlam Crunch Diversity Challenge!

You can cool down and enjoy a libation at the event beer garden which will open at 10 a.m. and run until 2 p.m. at the foot of the Crunch trail, adjacent to the Scott Creek Community Garden and on top of the gravel lot.  It’s the perfect place to get a bird’s eye view of the Crunch trail and stairs, as well as the finish/start line for the event.

This is the second time the event has hosted a beer garden, and last year, after a summer drought, the skies opened on the day of the event; a day that is traditionally warm, or hot, and dry — but no one seemed to mind.

“Last year we felt glorious with the rain,” said event co-chair Brian Kenny, President, Nothin’ Dragon Masters dragon boat team. “We celebrated the best attendance even though it was wet. This year, we’re expecting it to be ‘business as usual’ with the weather. We’re thrilled to have Yellow Dog back, who also sponsor our dragon boat team, as well as Coquitlam’s premier brewery, Mariner!”

There will be plenty to watch and see as the Stair Master takes place at 8 a.m. sharp; followed by the Make It Or Break It 4-hour challenge. For those not up to a race, you can sign up for the Recreational and walk the Crunch at your leisure.

The official opening of the event will take place between 9 and 10 a.m. with an opening by Kwikwetlem First Nation and words from Coquitlam’s mayor, Richard Stewart (who registered early for the event).

Enjoy music provided by Rod MacBeth (event MC) and a there’s a few other surprises in store. This is a pet friendly event, and it runs rain or shine!
